Water Recycling at U.S. Circuit

Download Case Study

According to TJ Sojitra, one of the owners of US Circuit, the HFX55D water recycling and wastewater treatment system Steven Ward of Water Innovations installed at US Circuit’s newly-built Escondido printed circuit board manufacturing facility in 2005, has exceeded his expectations. It has provided substantial costs savings by recycling 65% of rinsewater or 290-million gallons over 14-years instead of discharging it to sewer while significantly reducing waste treatment costs.

US Circuit’s 12-year old HFX55D Recycling System

Highly-automated with programmable logic control (PLC) and human-machine interface, by a touch screen, the HFX continuously monitors its product water to ensure only DI water meeting US Circuits requirements is sent to process. The waste treatment system allows them to focus on manufacturing not worrying about shutting down production  due to non-compliant discharge- one of their highest priorities in building the new facility. With its highly-efficiency feedforward grain counting controlling regeneration cycles, the HFX’s minimizes the volume of waste while producing the highest-quality DI water.

The HFX55D recycles up to 55-gpm of rinses by ion exchange to supply DI water to rinses, including Cu-plating, electroless-Cu, ENIG, oxide,  cleaners, & micro-etches. With improved rinse water quality, yields have improved & scrap reduced, enabling US Circuit to increase the complexity of the circuit boards they build.
