Innovative Design
Skid-mounted Batch Treatment In-a-Box (BT-IaB) is built on our 15-years of experience manufacturing wastewater treatment systems. It’s engineered to batch treat wastewater by controlled dosing of acid & caustic for pH adjustment, a liquid precipitant for metals precipitation & chrome reduction, flocculent for sludge conditioning, with an optional 5th feed pump for a coagulant or bleach for cyanide oxidation.
Standard Sizes
Available in Small with a 1” AOD system pump & air-actuated chemical feed valves for 1,000-gallons waste & treatment tanks and Large with a 1.5” AOD system pump & ¼” AOD chemical pumps for 2,500-gallon waste & treatment tanks.
Skid-mounted Components
The single AOD system pump, 1” for the Small system and 1.5” for the Large system provides for incoming waste feed, solution recirculation for chemical dosing & in-tank mixing, treated-water discharge, and sludge feed. Flow control is manual using 3-way valves on the pump inlet & outlet. Chemicals are fed into the recirculating solution and mixed by in-tank eductors, eliminating need for a typical tank mixer. pH & ORP sensors regulating chemical feed are on the recirculation loop simplifying treatment tank installation and ongoing maintenance.
Availability
Can be purchased as the key component of an integrated system including all required tanks with installed fittings & components or as a stand-alone skid for customer-installation and integration with customer-provided waste tanks, the treatment tank and filter press.
Waste Tanks
The one (1) Acid & 1 Alkaline waste tank are each equipped with a pressure sensor to monitor 0-100% tank level to regulate waste transfer to the treatment tank. Additional waste tanks can be added if individually isolated with manual waste transfer to the treatment tank using the system pump controlled by the operator.
Treatment Tank
The cone-bottom tank uses four (4) floats to regulate incoming waste, system activation, treated water discharge, and sludge transfer. Mixing is provided by recirculating solution through in-tank eductors that draw accumulated solution into their vortex. Treated water is manually discharged through a clear pipe for visual inspection with a tap for sample collection while sludge is emptied by gravity through a diaphragm valve on the cone outlet both to a 3-way manual valve on the system pump inlet for feed to a filter press or a holding tank.
Filter Press
While the IaB system pump provides for sludge feed, the filter press itself would be supplied by the customer. The small BT-IaB 1” AOD pump can feed up to a 5-ft3 filter press and the Large system up to 10-ft3. Our optional Auto Pump Controller (APC) can automatically increase feed pump air supply to compensate for increasing filter press back pressure eliminating need for the operator to adjust air pressure during dewatering.
Optional Sludge Tank The cone-bottom tank would include a high-level float to inhibit incoming sludge and low-level float to halt feed to the filter press once it is empty. The supernate & sludge outlets would be configured identical to the treatment tank feeding a 3-way manual valve on the inlet to the system pump.
Human Machine Interface
Intuitive and operator friendly controls are what distinguishes WT-IaB from other batch treatment systems including ones costing substantially more yet providing less process automation.
The Overview Screen provides for system monitoring with an operator-friendly intuitive interface displaying real-time pH, ORP, and tank levels, and providing the operating status of the system and chemical feed pumps.
The treatment process is listed step-by-step for the operator to follow during treatment including count-down timers for each step’s chemical feed and reaction.
Since the system pump is used for various purposes controlled by 2-way & 3-way valves on the pump inlet & outlet, operator alerts are provided to ensure the valves are turned in the required position.
The Settings Screen allows the operator to easily change pH & ORP setpoints and reaction timers of the treatment recipe for process optimization based on prior treatment experience.
As the first step of each treatment cycle the operator can adjust the volume of acidic, alkaline, or other wastewater to be transferred to the treatment tank as measured by the waste tanks level sensor with an override by the level in the treatment tank.
Our optional Auto Pump Control (APC) if included is configured simply by establishing the starting and ending AOD pump compressed air supply pressure.
Chemical feed control proportionally increases chemical feed ON time relative to OFF time as pH moves away from set points to provide for precise control and prevent chemical overdosing.
Installation Requirements
With the BT-IaB skid integrating all system components with single points of connection for 15a@120v power & 25-scfm of compressed air, many customers with a basic understanding of plumbing & electrical can quickly & easily install an integrated BT-IaB system without need for a professional installation team.
Installation & Start-Up Assistance
We can provide turn-key system installation including start-up & operator training or oversee installation by the customer. Or to simplify customer system installation, we offer a detailed Piping & Instrument Diagram (P&ID), Tank Component Kits for each system tank including Sch 80 PVC tank adaptors for incoming & outgoing pipes, recommended isolation & check valves, and 4-20mA level sensor or floats, and pre-printed ANSI-compliant color-coded labels for an integrated system including directional arrows for system flows and NEMA-compliant electrical conduit labels, to comply with regulatory requirements.
