Steve graduated Phi Beta Kappa from U.C. Berkeley with a B.A. in International Relations in 1991 before earning his Masters of Public Health (MPH) Degree from SDSU in 2001 for his Thesis on the Economics of Water Recycling by Printed Circuit Board Manufacturers. Its genesis was Steve’s 2 years as EH&S Manager for a PCB manufacturer when as part of a $6 million new facility & equipment project he installed then managed a state-of-the art Kinetico-built integrated ion exchange water recycling, copper scavenging & electrolytic recovery, reverse osmosis, and wastewater treatment system that produced 55-gpm of DI water by recycling close to 20-million gallons of process rinsewater annually.

Beyond technology, Steve brings to Water Innovations and its customers his experience and knowledge from 10+ years as Water Innovations’ Managing Partner, preceded by 7-years as Managing Partner of FCT Water Treatment selling WWT chemistries, and before that Process Supply & Service. Before starting his own business, Steve was a chemistry & equipment (including Kinetico) Service Technician to PCB manufacturers and a WWT Chemical Salesman to the PCB and metal-finishing industries. It’s not surprising Steve’s career has for 25 years gravitated towards water recycling & promoting sustainability. He’s a life-long environmentalist – as evidenced by his fraternity mug from Berkeley which from his Frat House Manager days is engraved with his nickname “Recycho.”
Water Innovations is Steve’s and his wife Erica’s company. It’s his passion and his hobby. He’s about building the highest-quality and most-efficient water recycling and wastewater treatment systems in the world! Lyle Kirman
Consulting Engineer
Over 40+ years of broad experience with industrial wastewater treatment and water recycling. Lyle Kirman has been immersed in the water industry since the early 1970’s. His career began with the collecting and analyzing of water samples to identify the wastewater contaminants at six company plants. With the establishment of the EPA, Lyle became his employer’s expert on wastewater and it was his job to determine how to comply with the new regulations. Since then, he’s answered the call to ensure the safety of our water supply. Lyle is a creative problem solver with an outstanding record of inventions, process improvements and cost reductions. Skilled in water purification, pollution control and prevention and energy management. His Specialties: Experienced in the design, manufacturing, and operation of Ion Exchange, Reverse Osmosis, Evaporation, and Electrowinning Systems. Authored or co-authored 5 patents, with two more in the application stage.
Lyle graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a B.A. & M.S Degrees, in Chemistry 1964 – 1975
